Hormann Series 2000 steel doors are manufactured to the highest
standards of quality and finish to give years of trouble free operation.
The chassis of each leaf consists of welded hollow galvanised steel
sections, with seam welded mitred corners and twin cross-rails. This
produces a strong and rigid assembly into which galvanised steel panels
are retained by multiple projection welds for the ribbed style doors and
self-tapping screws and special spring clips for the panelled doors. Unlike the
many doors on the market which show lines of unsightly pop-rivets, Hormann
fixings are virtually invisible to the naked eye. All Hormann Series 2000 steel
doors are finished by an environmentally friendly powder-coating process
which ensures excellent adhesion and penetration to all surfaces giving the
door a tough durable finish. The standard finish is brilliant white, but
certain styles and sizes are available in dark brown. These finishes require
no further protection.

Series 2000 steel

There are two distinct types of construction used in the Hormann timber
garage door range, panelled doors and tongued and grooved doors. The
panelled door designs consist of the best quality cedar wood mouldings
mounted on exterior grade plywood backing boards with clear silicone and
modern PVA adhesives. These doors are factory base coated as standard
using an ICI Dulux Classic Low Build Wood stain, pine colour. This coating will
give up to six weeks protection. The tongued and grooved designs are made
from best quality 12.5mm cedar boards. Some of the designs have border
surrounds of thicker cedar in these designs the 12.5mm boards are secured
into them using clear silicone and PVA adhesive to inhibit water ingress.
The tongued and grooved designs are supplied in a natural state or
with a factory base coat as an optional extra.

Series 2000 timber

The moulds for all Hormann GRP garage doors are created
from hand crafted timber originals, which give them their high
quality appearance. Each door is then hand made from these moulds.
The surface of the door has a "gell coat" giving the doors protection
against discoloration from harsh sunlight.

The white panelled doors have an exceptionally smooth and high
gloss finish that has been created by meticulous hand polishing of
these moulds to ensure crispness of line and bold modelling of detail.
The wood effect style doors are based on timber moulds specially
selected for their grain effect and a wide range of natural timber colours
are available for most of the designs. If any of the wood-grain designs
are required in white it should be noted that the finish is of a matt texture.
